Workshop

Physics of Biological Systems: From Genes to Societies

2-3 October 2008
Lisbon, Portugal

Physical biology is an emerging scientific discipline whose goal is that of understanding mechanistically how physical forces and interactions govern biological systems with different levels of complexity. By fostering the collaboration between physicists, chemists and biologists this new and exciting research field seeks to create new ways of understanding the dynamical behavior of biological systems.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together scientists studying biological systems with the tools of physics, either conceptual or computational.

Selected topics are intended to cover all scales of biology, ranging from genetic networks and the dynamics of proteins to the organization and evolution of systems of increasing complexity, from cellular networks to human societies.

There is no registration fee. However, please register before 20 September if you plan to attend.
